Black Walnut Cake

Stock Yard Restaurant Recipe

1/2 cup Crisco shortening
1 cup margarine
5 eggs
3 cups all-purpouse flour, sifted
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 1/2 cups sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon black walnut flavoring
1 cup evaporated milk
1 cup chopped black walnuts

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease and flour a 10-inch tube pan. Sift the flour, baking powder and salt together and set aside. In a large bowl cream the margarine, shortening, sugar, vanilla extract and the black walnut flavoring until fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well between each addition. Add the sifted dry ingrediants and milk alternately, begininning and ending with the flour. Beat well after each addition. Stir in the nuts. Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and bake for 80 minutes.
